I appreciate all the responses so far, and I have actually considered the Champion, but I am just not sure if I will be able to handle the weight of the 3500. So that is why I am considering the dual Honda's. Especially since they came out with the 2200's. So, I have made the decision to go with the Honda's.
Now, for my original question of what exactly do I need to connect them in parallel? I hear people say that I don't need the companion, but if I don't get the companion how will I get 30 amps out of one of the 20amp plugs on the regular model? If I just buy (or make) the cables to connect the 2, that still doesn't give me a plug capable of producing 30amps (Even though both generators will have the power available) So, does that mean I have to buy an entire "kit" that has a 30amp plug if I don't buy the companion.
