Anyone who's observed any of the Honda inverter generators can tell you they don't 'scream'. Even two of them at full RPM are quieter than just about any one Chinese knock off. Their reliability is not matched with any of the other brands either. I know, I've spent way too much money trying to save money, thinking the better known knock offs would perform as good, or good enough even, to make the savings worth while. Just not true. Even my higher quality Yamaha inverters are noticeably louder than the Hondas. Side-by-side testing with professional sound meters and with cheap apps on my smart phone makes it plainly clear that my ears don't lie; Honda has all the other brands whipped when it comes to sound levels. Starting ease is another area that the Honda is king of the hill. My Yamaha inverter generators always took at least 3 pulls to start. If sat for any length of time, a couple months say, it takes a dozen or more pulls to start. My Hondas always start first pull every time no matter how long they've sat. And just to reiterate; I've had many other brands, trying to find some way to avoid the high cost of a Honda and they are even worse with measured as well as perceived noise as well as starting ease.
Sound / noise might not be that important to some, but it should if there's any chance you would operate your generator near any other person who can hear. I hate camping in most formal campgrounds because of the genny noises.
I have ended up with 3 generators; a Honda 7000 inverter used for the house during outages, a Yamaha 2800 I use when I think I need to run the AC and a Honda 1000. I use the 1000 for camping unless I think I'll be running my AC. I plan to test the new 2200 and see if it will hold my AC load. If so, the Yamaha is history. My AC is a Coleman 9 low profile on my truck camper.
