DUAL FLUSH VALVE

  • I find a wand down the toilet throat works best for me. It beats the reverse flush and also the factory tank sprayer.
  • Third day on vacation many years ago.... had the pipe stop up with tissue paper. The tank would drain but not the toilet. Could not unstop it with a plunger.

Used a 5' piece of flexible pipe to try to open it up. It would go through the tissue in the 45 degree pipe through the basement and drain a small amount of liquid into the tank and then stop up again.

RV dealer up in the Smokey Mountains recommended the "Flush King". About $30 at the time. Put it on the tank drain, opened the tank valves and filled the tank with water. That pushed the blockage back up into the toilet. Pulled the valve on the Flush King and everything went down the drain.

You do have to watch the process or you will have a mess on the floor!

I had to do this twice in 14 years with that trailer.

I keep it with my 5th W. any time we travel although we probably no longer need it. Two years ago while repairing a plumbing problem, removed the tank and pipes and found a 12 or 14" #3 phillips Craftsman screw driver at the second bend in the pipe, just above the tank.

As far as using it to flush the tanks, I have once or twice. It keeps you from having to drag a water hose inside. I later added a valve and sprayer in the bathroom to flush the tank without using a separate water hose. Much easier.

My answer is...it depends on your plumbing at your dump valve that you have right now.

It worked OK but not great on a TT we had. But on our 5th wheel it didn't work so good. My reasoning was because of the way the plumbing was set up on each.

The trailer pipe was a straight in shot and the water went inside and stuff was able to get flushed out after awhile.

But on the 5th wheel the pipe came down maybe 6 inches before it went inside tank. When using the flush valve the water pressure wasn't big enough to over come the 6 inch rise.

Kind of makes sense. thanks. We have a TT and will have to check out the angle of the pipe. TY
