I'm assuming what you're describing is very similar to those being sold on eBay with an elbow or straight barb installed on an OEM Honda gas cap. Did you use one of those 5/16" or 3/8" brass fittings similar to those sold at Lowes or Home Depot?
What kind of gas container are you using?
