I just installed the system and the instructions say to install with grease hole in the bolts horizontally. Makes a lot of sense. The zerk fittings are much stronger (threaded?) than the ones in the bolts I replaced. The old ones would come out of the bolts when I greased them. Everything in this kit is much heavier duty. I replaced mine when the old equalizer had a groove worn in it more than a inch long from the top bolt. Obviously not getting grease through the zerk fitting. I'm very happy with the kit. When installing it the last bolt was always the hardest to get lined up. I wish I would have seen (or thought of) the tiedown trick shown in the picture above before I did mine.
