Dexter E-Z Flex suspension

Hello. I just ordered the Dexter E-Z Flex suspension system with wet bolt kit. been wanting to do this for a while now. figured this would be a good time to do it. my trailer has just under 15k miles and I`m sure the nylon spring eye bushing are worn. I figured now would be a good time to update and replace some parts.

I read some of the reviews and they sound very good. I did read LAdams and BarneyS`s post on their install and was very impressed. found the complete kit with shackles, bolts and sleeves for $163 incl. shipping! now to just wait till spring to install it.

This is the kit I got. Dexter E-X Flex from Nicks Truck Parts this is the 6k lb kit. there is also an 8k lb kit available. you can get them with or without the shackles and wet bolt kit.

    Thanks makes sense. My wet bolts came on the trailer new from the factory so I doubt they did anything like this when installing.

    That still may not work. The spring eyes are not perfectly round and may be tight where the hole is located. Also, the grease would be applied where it is not needed and there is nothing to force it around to the stress area.

    I filed a chamfer around the hole so the grease would more easily wedge between the parts.
    Have not had any issues of grease flowing in.

    I highly recommend this tool from Harbor Freight. Or a local auto supply store may rent one.

    Ball Joint service Kit

    It is a little money but it will make installation much easier and quicker.

    I have never had problems greasing my wet bolts.

    Be sure to check each bolt and verify the hole goes all the way to the cross hole. I found two bolts that were not drilled all the way.

    I also mounted mine with the grease zerks on the inside. Much easier to get a grease gun on and apply the needed pressure.

    Another way to help greasing is drill the cross hole all the way through the bolt. Just be sure to clean the hole at the surface of the bolt. This can be done by drilling a slight depression with a 1/2 drill bit and polish with some emery paper.

    That's the idea, unfortunately it sounds better in theory than it actually works in practice. :) I put all mine in with the hole at the 90º or 270º position and I still have a couple bolts that are very stubborn about taking grease.

    I thought the instructions (it has been a while ago that I read them) said to put the hole facing horizontally forward or back depending on where the stress was. The idea being that if the grease hole is away from the stress the hole will not be blocked.

    Just don't continue the X or figure 8 cut all the way to the edges or the grease will just push out the cut and do no good.

    Been hearing a lot of good things about Lippert Never-Fail bushings and may consider at some point.

    You'll be glad you made this choice. I had several nylon bushings on my triple axle completely worn through in less than half the mileage you're talking about. It is probably the single best improvement you can make in your trailer.

    I no longer tense up when I near the interstate bridge approaches. Best money I ever spent on my toyhauler.
