It'll work ok in newer cars and trucks. Not so great for certain generators -- my Honda 2000 hates ethanol. It is a full time job keeping those carb jets clean -- fuel additives, running the gen under load once a month, draining the carb every time I use it. Fun!!
And the irony is that I almost never use the gen for real. We just got back from a month of camping in the Rockies. My 120 watt portable solar panel kept us topped up every day -- the generator sat in the back of the truck, waiting for a long cloudy spell that never came.
I think we can add a fuel cutoff valve to our 2000's and run it out of fuel before we use the original shut down procedure. That would circumvent the manual carb. drain.
