Electric awning - Don't like the durned thing! Rant!

Got an electric awning, thought this was a nice thing....... Used it a couple times and very quickly realized what a total pain in the backside it is. It has 2 positions - in, or out. Period. ...

On at least some electric awnings, a cylinder is designed to collapse under a rain load to dump the water. Looks like that's what occurred in this case.
