We must stop raising cows for slaughter...
Why?
They eat ten times the protein they yield
And they emit methane cow farts -- a major contributor to greenhouse gas. You have to learn to eat tofu, nuts, and other raw foods
(In a pig's ***)
But the flavor of a burger cannot be duplicated. Have you tried a burger made over charcoal mesquite?
Ewwwwwwww I've hated the flavor of meat since I was a baby
Meaning cows are meat and meat has eyelashes? How about gator meat or frog legs?
Slash and burn farming makes more CO2 than 10,000 cars.
Rip up parking asphalt in Sacramento government parking lots give 'em bicycles and leave a zero carbon footprint. Buy a Tesla for Navin Gruesome. - pianotunaNomad IIIMex,
Equate the temperature rise to absolute zero. If the temperature goes down 5 degrees Kelvin, then New York likely turns into Greenland. If the temperature goes up 5 degrees Kelvin, New York (and many other places) may be under water.
I think this discussion may be Moot as the changes that need to be made are going to take tens of years, and the time frame for temperature increase is far shorter.
That doesn't mean we should not try. My "foot print" on October 15 a couple of years ago was about 709 watt-hours for a total of 17 KWH for all my needs in 24 hours. (space and water heating, cooking and running the computer). About 1 KWH came from the tiny solar system on the RV roof.
I believe we may be leaving our grand children a Dystopian future.
Canada is responsible for about 1.7% of the worlds co2. Far greater than our "fair share" by population. Our government would rather sweep this all under the proverbial rug than take the drastic action needed. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerThe insane degree of oscillation announcing an ice age or ending of an ice age can last hundreds or even thousands of years.
Ice core samples reveal CO2 levels during warming periods to have been as much as TEN TIMES the level of what it is today. My question is this...
What "cured" the insanely high PPM of CO2? Was it a miracle more properly described as multi-miracles because CO2 levels have occurred dozens of times since the Jurrasic. When the CO2 levels were 3 times the level as they are today?
I am not defending polluting. Needless Creation of CO2 is utterly stupid. But efforts to negate CO2 in relation to the rest of the world could be likened to planting roses while surrounded by a burning forest.
Brazil creates FAR MORE CO2 than the USA. Clearcutting the AMAZON while distilling alcohol is a climate killer. Yet no one has declared Brazil, or India or China or The Soviet Union II as being onboard for CO2 violations.
Orientals are clearcutting the ocean for edibles and making zero attempts to increase the soy protein in their diet.
So I am supposed to play the part of a masochist and bleed and say nary a word about what other countries are doing? Liberals are absolutely FOS when they say criticizing other countries is politically incorrect. China gloats they are making inroads against CO2 emission while the reality is in their cities the public is forced to wear pollution masks and visibility is less than one block.
The USA will do its part, but not at the expense of self immobilization while declaring "Well, we did OUR part. We die, innocent"
Stupid Stupid Stupid - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Mex,
Not quite what you asked--but still worth thinking about:
"On average, a conventional car creates more the twice as much carbon pollution as an electric car. Even in the state that gets almost all of its electricity from burning coal, an EV still pollutes less than a typical conventional car. Assuming a 10 year useful life, an average conventional car will spew out 66,000 pounds more carbon pollution than an average electric vehicle. That’s 33 tons, folks."
This is included the co2 from manufacturing the vehicle. MEXICOWANDERER wrote:
The ENTIRE area of this video is powered by a coal fired mega plant outside of VALMY NEVADA. Several Gigawatts.
No nuclear
No falling water
No solar
No natural gas
And no grand intertie except to sell not buy power which would rob LA of a small but significant amount of kWh.
Your plant in Valmy could be next....

So we have to retract hyperbole to what the USA does.
Please provide a link that guesstimates what effect if any an all-electric USA would have on the CO2 PPM world-wide? - maillemakerExplorer
The earth is self cleaning and self recycling, we do not and cannot "add" to what there is not.. Neither can we "take away" stuff from the earth.
WE as humans ARE made up of CARBON, we NEED CARBON to live, OUR BODIES USE CARBON in order to live.
Plants USE CARBON to flourish, without they would DIE, plants like trees, flowers, grass take in carbon, they DEPEND on carbon IN THE AIR, without is they would no longer be. Scrub all of the carbon out of the air and not only will the plants die, WE will die to..
Yes, their is carbon "sequestered" deep inside the earth, but if we (us humans) do not release some of that carbon (natural gas and oil), the EARTH WILL EVENTUALLY RELEASE IT as part of it's own natural cycles (earth quakes, volcanos and even natural oil tar pits and so on).
This is complete and utter bunk easily refuted by evidence.
We have had accurate, direct, and regular measurements of atmospheric CO2 since 1958. At that time, it was 316 ppm. Today, it is 413 ppm.
Yes, we are made up of carbon, and we need carbon to live. You are also made up of water, and need water to live. You can drown in water. Just because you contain it and need it does not mean it is not dangerous in sufficient quantities.
The National Science Academies of every single nation on the planet agree that the rise of CO2 is man-made, and that it is causing climate change.
Now, I personally do not worry about climate change. Money always wins. It doesn't matter what the right thing to do is, if the money says burn coal until the sky is black, that is what we will do. So there is no point sweating it. But, it's also ludicrous to think that there is no problem.
The good news is that it looks like renewable will win out in cost. - pnicholsExplorer II

I understand some people are working on panels that will also convert some of the heat to photons to produce additional electric power. May never happen or could be 10+ years out. But still, people are working on many areas of improvement.
Yeah, using the heat is certainly a step in the right direction. I hope/trust that intensive solar panel research is going on to get panel efficiencies way above their current low levels.
Don't green plants convert the sun's energy at an efficiency rate above 90% when they're growing?
I can only dream of covering my RV's roof with panels that are - say - 70% efficient. Wow!!! I might even consider selling my Onan with that kind of setup. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerThe fragility of the world is scary. For instance, if the Gulfstream current fails Europe will starve. How many millions of acres of US farms are dependant on rainfall, not irrigation.
How much suffering would the RV industry go through if sudden depletion of plastics cause?
My entire gripe, pages, and pages worth centers around people who do not think. Important people. Elected people. The chosen few.
Don't worry! Put your worries on my shoulders! Like smart battery chargers?
Hundreds of millions of budget dollars for people who don't want it or people who do not deserve it. - pnicholsExplorer II
