Electric roof horns not working

These are all electric and used to sound kinda weak when steering wheel pad pressed. They work in tandem with the two "snail horns" under the hood. No electric compressor I can find. Not Grover horns per my inquiry.

So I took them apart yesterday and found the gaskets had crumbled and lots of debris inside the horns. I made new gaskets and cleaned out the horns with a brush and put back together. Press horn..NOTHING. There is 13-14V at the horn. Diaphragm looked OK, not rusty. There is an adjuster screw inside that was held with white LocTite. Did some adjusting and...still NOTHING. Not a peep. Snail horns working .

Thought I got it back together OK. Fuse is OK.

What happened ?

Thanks
  • Could not fix, so I bought new Fiamm 7555014 AirTone dual horns. $112 with shipping. Work fine now.

Hi Doug....why do you think they totally stopped working. The did have a weak sound before my attempt.

The metal diaphragm just gets weak from age and exposure to moisture. Doug

  • They are cheap junk. I went to factory to have mine repaired. They went thru 5 horns before the found one that worked. It lasted maybe a week. I just gave up on trying to get ones that work. They look pretty cool though. :)
