Electrical cord wrapped in a circle cause problems?

A coiled cord can cause problems when in use. However I do not think an RV power cord is long enough to have any effect.

I had an air compressor plugged into a 100' cord with most of it coiled and it did not take long for the compressor to shut down. The cord was not hot. I uncoiled the cord and everything worked fine.
