Electrical Issue

One circuit keeps blowing a fuse( exhaust fan, dinnette light, front fantastic fan, and outlet). Replace the fuse a few times. What's next? shamrock 183. Thank you!
  • yes, with DC you can have arcing, that exhaust fan (cook top?) can draw 5amps
with other items running an arc on that could go over the fuse limit

i rather he finds a loose wire, than have to trace an intermittent short
  • PTX, have you figured out where the short is yet? I know I'm getting in on this late but if you just go ahead and disconnect everything and put a fuse in, if you don't blow the fuse look for the hot wire, hook up the fixture at that point and the find the next hot.

It is simpler when you don't know how the circuit runs to disconnect everything and then hot up the circuit. If everything is connected and the shortis in the last run you waste a lot of fuses.

I don't think a loose wire is going to blow fuses.
  • does it blow, when nothing is turned on or plugged in

    intermittent short in the wiring

a wire is pinched or a screw is making contact with the 12v hot for the circuit

start with the light and then the outlet
    look for loose wires
then move to fantastic fan and stove exhaust fan

hopefully you find a loose wire connection

a pinched wire will be very hard to find
  • 12v outlet ? located where

120v outlet ? for the TV ? 12v would be a control circuit, so the TV can't be used while moving
  • Turn everything on that circuit off. replace the fuse. turn on each item one at a time. the one that blows the fuse is the culpret. If they do not pop the fuse, turn them on together and see which one is the overload.. You are not saying what you have plugged into the outlet. That could be the overload.
This advice is worth what you paid for it.
  • Get your multimeter out and start looking for a short or other problem.
