Electrical Issue

When we plugged our Jayco FW in yesterday, after sitting for several months, we could smell burned wiring and now lights and refrigerator don't work, but outlets and microwave do. It looks like the ground wire is scorched. We are fairly good at repairs, but looking for info as to where to start, what to check first??? TIA
  • What ground wire and where is burned/scorched? There are quite a few wires that could reasonably be called a ground wire.

Lights are 12V, as is the fridge control board if it's an RV fridge rather than a residential fridge. It sounds as though your 12V system isn't working.
  • What ground wire is scorched? If it is the 120v to the pedestal, your 120v appliances that do not need a ground can work on the hot and neutral.

You have lost 12v. Your battery should supply 12v without the converter unless it is disconnected or its fuse has blown.

Are you talking about the adapter between house and trailer?
  • Is your rig a 30 or 50 amp?
Possible you fried the converter or inverter, if equipped.
What type of receptacle did you plug into? Are you using an adapter?
