Electrical Issues

My camper developed dimming lights and would easily kick off the A/C. My fridge was getting excess juice since I was out of propane, developing a large clump of ice inside, not in the freezer. With the lack of propane, was the camper overloading the 30 amp capacity ? I hope my camper isn't finally failing totally.

Thanks for any answers !
  • Without any power into your RV and all devices turned off, if the battery/s are good, you should have no dimming lights.

My guess is that the battery/s are bad and when you connect AC power to the converter, it is too much of a load for the converter.

Converter may also be trying to charge a DEAD SHORTED battery...

Disconnect the NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL and see if same thing is still on-going.

  • Could be overloading....
Could be your converter failing (dimming lights 12V DC is a sign of converter failing).

    Fridge getting excess juice?????
Fridge on electric uses 110V AC power for electric heater and 12V DC power for control circuit.
Large clump of ice forming in food section...
Could be thermstor (temp sensor on fin) has fallen off fin, is failing or door seals are leaking (warm air getting into food section)
