Electrical Problem - Converter?

Odds of it being the converter are ZERO

Odds of it being an open neutral on the park side of things EVEN IF YOU HAVE a 30 amp RIG,, Very very high;

Imagine a water system We have a tank, 3 fittings on the tank

From one fitting we have a pump, this pump sucks water out of the tank and powers some water powered stuff,, Water then goes to a "T" fitting.

On the other side of the tank is a pump that sucks water from that "T" fitting and after pulling it through some water powered stuff retusns it to the tank.

And connectd to the 3rd port on the "T" fitting is a line back to the tank that can water either way depending on which is using more water just now.

Now imagine one side is using very little water,, and that "Neutral line" gets blocked.. The other side is still pushing water in so the pressure goes higher and higher till something goes POP.

Electricity sorks the same say.. IF the neutral goes open then whichever leg is using less electricity the voltage goes very high and till damage is done.

IF you are on a 50 amp RV both legs are delivered to you

On a 30 amp Rig you get one leg and a nighbor gets the other (neighbor can be on the other side of the park, or next site over) if the neutral opens somewhere underground (happened in one park I visit) then voltages go high/low depending on which leg is using more power at the moment.

(OH,, In the park where it happned they closed affected sites,, Ran new Very much better cables.. And a long-term renter drove a piece of Re-bar through one of the new cables,,, and a new sewer line, and... Well.... Let's just say he was not the manager's favorite camper :) .

don't know if you solved this or not, but if you have 110 on gennie and not shore power then you have a bad transfer switch. been there.

Sounds like the neutral went open, either in the rig's system or at the pedestal. Damage to any 120 volt items that were on, could have occurred.

Yes, a hand held meter is a necessity, IMO. If you don't know how to use one, the learning curve is short and will save you many hours of frustration and $$$.

If it was my RV, I'd disconnect the various failed appliances and plug them back into an extension cord, connected into a known, good, 120V receptacle. That is not one in the RV with the generator supplying power and not a campground pedestal. Find a business or homeowner connected to grid, measure the receptacle's output, and then connect the extension cord to the appliance.

A microwave will probably have a fuse inside that may save the microwave. A TV does not have a fuse like that.

When you get home, I would hire an experienced tech to look over all of the devices connected to 120 V and also the load center and shore connection bits.

Do you have a digital voltmeter--almost a necessity on an RV?

If so, we can walk you through checking the shore power receptacle-- takes 3 minutes.

AC works great on generator. Thank goodness since we are in Galvestonand it is very humid.

The converter would not effect the microwave. IF you have an inverter that could do it. The manual on the 2015 Seneca I looked at was rather poor in its description but you may have supplemental manuals on each device. On many larger inverter/charger units there are breakers right on the devices.

Are your air conditioners working on generator ok?

1. The converter has nothing to do with the 120vac side of the camper; it changes 120vac to 12 vdc and most likely is located within the AC/DC distribution panel.
For no 12 volt check the 30 amp fuse from the battery and the fuses in the distribution panel and the breaker that feeds the converter.
2. and this may have more to do with everything. Since you can run from the ginny if your GFI wouldn't reset on shore power and does on the ginny then look for GFI fault.

3. All of this may have resulted from an over voltage condition. I doubt it went to 220vac as your breakers should have tripped. Voltage spikes in CG's are not un common because many times the wiring is marginal. Or it may result from a power company switching something in or out of service.

4. What caused the TV to fail may have also taken out the converter.

A careful step by step inspection of everything is in order.
When something like this occurs the best procedure is turn of the shore power breaker then check and note any tripped breakers, GFI, or blown fuses in the camper.

We had a problem once where the 30 amp pedestal GFI would trip but not the GFI in the camper. Turned out to be two problems; water in a conduit under the camper and the camper GFI was defective. Although not related to your problem it shows how careful you need to be in checking things over.
