I am no code expert but I understand there should be only one earth ground and it should be at the first main supply panel only.
Please check the outlet that the Hot (Black wire?) connects to the smaller slot (brass screw) and the Neutral (s/b White wire) connects to the wide slot and the silver screw.
Oh, I do believe you are right about the Earth ground, it didn't even occur to me but I believe it gives the neutral several paths and that's not good, exception being if the box or plug is NOT already grounded, I will take the earth ground off and test he wire.
And yes checking the polarity of the outlet is next, I will do that at the same time I check the ground. I have been extremely busy but the camper has been unplugged when not working on it.
