Engine code, P1406 on 98 V10
RV been sitting like 4.5 months & needed to go fill LP tank, so once on my way it felt like the engine wasnt running correctly, like it had a skip in a spot in the throttle.
When I got to the LP station the engine had a real strong lean smell, like autos had years ago when we had leaded gas.
Pulled out the code reader, checked the codes & had P1406, down stream hose off.
Pulled the engine cover, checking close as I could all of the vaccume hoses I could see, but could not see any off or missing.
The odd thing, the big hose that goes from the throttle body to the PVC valve, the connector joint, the hose was real loose fitting & easy to pull apart, so & put on a pull tye to snug it up.
Down in the valley of the engine under the intake, theres like a cavity & right at the rear edge there was a vaccume hose end, the kinda big black rubber ends Ford uses & had a short piece of the little red hose left in it.
Crazy thing, I checked every where I could look & feel with my hands to find a nipple it may have gone to, but couldnt find anything.
After doing all this, started the engine up & let it run a good while like I normally do & it didnt have that smell or the ship pop in the exhaust like before. I did erase the code with the code reader, so dont know if that changed the engine running or not.
One other thing, after the RV had been sitting, the engine battery was a bit low, but the engine did start up with out using the emurge start, so dont know if that low battery could have started the problem, making the computer to act up.
Thanks for any help, Neil
