You could have a machine shop go through that block for about half that price.
Don't know how you would know that.
Where I came from, a "spun bearing" means a main, and not repairable.
And if they are repairable nowdays, I wouldn't want any part of it at any price.
A spun bearing can be either a rod or a main. The bearings are the same design and build. And you can usually tell by the sound which one it is without peeling the pan off. A rod is louder and sharper in tone while a main sound more like a dull thud.
Either way they can be repaired. I've dropped many a crank and turned them 10-20 under and put some off the shelf shells in it and put it back together and got lots of miles more out of them.
Heck I once spun a rod bearing in a 62 Starfire 394 and used a big hunk of bacon rind for a temporary bearing. I was a teenager and didn't have the coin for a pair of shells for it!! Yeah they used to sell them by the pair. I replaced a pile of them one set at a time in my teenage years when I used to mercilessly pound every engine I had!
But I certainly wouldn't be so carefree with today's engines. That's a lot of work!
