Enhaust burning floor

I have a 2004 40 foot Tiffin Phaeton. While under the motorhome doing some undercoating I noticed that there was white styrofoam exposed above the exhaust pipes and the turbo chargerand exhaust pipe area. it looked like the heat had deteriorated or burned whatever was between the styrofoam and the exhaust pipe. I assume this is under the bed and I will be.looking at it today for damage.from above. The exhaust has also burnt or melted some wire loom in the area above the exhaust. Is this something that Tiffin will take responsibility for and fix on the motorhome of this age?

Thanks
Ken Tenpenny

  • CALL Tiffin with your VIN. Tiffin had a RECALL a few years ago for installation of a Heat Shield and modification of the Turbo covers on certain models. I believe it was for 42 foot and over on certain chassis. This was IF the Exhaust had a leak to prevent the hot exhaust from melting certain areas of the floor. Have you determined that you do NOT have an exhaust leak in that area? Doug

Do you have a pyrometer or some other means of measuring exhaust temperature? It could be a bad build by Tiffen or maybe you have a problem with high exhaust temps for some reason. Have you installed any kind or chips in your ECU for higher performance?

From all I've ever heard about Tiffin, Yes, They Will.
