Mercury and Yellow Fin said that ethanol was the reason that my friends' tanks had to be replaced on his Yellow Fin with triples on the back... The tanks were fiberglass with a coating on the inside, that the ethanol ate. They opened the tanks, thoroughly cleaned and tried a different coating that lasted about 1 year... In the end he had to get new aluminum tanks which lost about 100 gallons from the capacity...
Yellow Fin had to redesign their boats to allow for aluminum tanks due to the restrictions of using aluminum, so they could keep the capacity...
The big Mercs are too expensive to fool around with, especially when you have 3... They didn't like to drink that stuff... Needless to say he uses the same place every time to get his fuel now. He won't take a chance and after the $$$ he paid, he has good reason...
I assume most of you have plastic or metal tanks, however the tank material should be considered as it caused his motors a lot of problems...
