Sounds like some progress?
Trying, but not starting and staying running?
Check plug again and see if wet.
If wet, engine cylinder may have raw fuel from carb flooding.
With plug out, pull over engine a few times to clear some of the unburnt raw fuel and retry with plug in.
If flooding then you may have a sticking/stuck float or debris in the float valve preventing the valve from closing. Or it could have simply flooded from all of the failed start attempts.
