EV Charging station & RV use

The public EV charging stations I've seen are set up to charge money to charge the car. Powering an RV with one would not be stealing electricity; it's no different than buying drinking water and using it for some other purpose (maybe watercolor painting).

EV owners and the operators of the chargers may well not appreciate one taking up space by the chargers, particularly if none are available--just as everyone doesn't appreciate people who leave their cars at gas pumps when running in to buy a soda and use the restroom if there's a crowd at the pumps.

Spiral 100 feet of electrical wire, on the ground, parallel to overhead high tension transmission wires and you will soon be arrested. And maybe find yourself featured on YouTube in one of the more hilarious categories.

The EV owner may need that charge to get home and you are heating leftover pizza and vacuuming up your mess. Besides the parking stalls are generally signed to include EV charging only. Does not include RVs (yet).

Certainly if you tow an EV and bring it to the mall you are welcome to charge the main battery so you can make it back to camp.

I parallel this to topping up your tank and leaving the RV blocking the gas lane while you go in inside to shop or shower for 45 minutes. Plenty of those out there.

EV charging stations are for EVs, Gordon, just like RV and truck spaces at state rest stops are for RVs and trucks, not gasoline cars or EVs.

For the same reason creating "adapters" to tap into someone's power meter, cable TV lines, phone lines, natural gas and the like is immoral. It is not your power to use as you please. Someone is paying for the power and the intention is for it to be used to charge electric vehicles, period. If the business or government entity wants RVs to have free power, they will put in RV pedestals.

This is similar to the very vexing sensibilities between citizens of this country and the one to the north.

It comes down to disagreement with "accepted" customs. Like advertising a sale on USDA PRIME BEEF in New Delhi.

Or making change in the collection plate.

When locals become irate at supposed violations of morals, you can have your hands full. More than full. Don't know bout anyone else but I stay sensitive to this.

Inverter or generator would be easier.

Yeah that's the consensus I've seen- it's overly complicated, and also not suitable for usage patterns of most RV owners. We see these stations in malls and food stores around Chicago, so assuming it'd be nice to plug in & run the microwave, vac, etc. while DW is shopping, and before moving on. Why would there be a moral problem?

Are you suggesting you want to camp at an EV charging station? Get the compass Western suggested.
