Does anyone know how to remove the off/on switch knob off? Does knob pull off, or remove the little decal and there a little bolt under decal? I don't see any set screw or a way to remove it. I pulled down a little but don't want to break it. Hate to yank on plastic or RV parts:D Can't find parts blow up pic on fantastic site. Islandman, Thanks for response... I was hoping to get on this today.(edit.. Good idea but want to get on it today. When moving fan from bedroom to kitchen and installing one with remote in bedroom their tech line was very helpful. But they are closed today, thought someone might know how.)

I think your referring to the rotary knob with the on/off and speed control? If so, you just pull the knob off. There is no set screw or any thing else holding it.

Pat, I looked at all the replacement switch pix I could find and came up with the above. With that D-shaped shaft, no threaded hole in the end, and you NOT seeing a set screw in the side of the knob...I'm sure it pulls off. If there's room, put the end of a teaspoon between knob and fan surface and pry a little while you wiggle and tug on the knob. It'll come off.

My solution was to replace my fan with one that came with a remote. Granted, it was about a $400 USD solution - but no more reaching for the fan switch anymore.

You got me thinking...fan switch has 4 settings.. off, low, med and high. Not sure how that would play out.

By pulling the skylight trim I could get wire in overhead from the fan to side. But then not sure how to get down wall to a wall switch.

This is my Fantastic Vent 6600R. If you remove the trim off of it you may be able to see/access the 12v wiring that powers it. Instead of modifying the fan how about leaving the fan switch turned on and running a new switch off of the 12v power going into the fan. The new switch could be located at wall-switch height.

Mine is just a D stem knob pulls off no set screw or anything

Thanks folks...Reason for taking it off in first place is to rig up something so wife can turn it on and off with her "short person" stick. I messed around with a socket on the end of stick. To awkward. It's getting late, guess I'll wait and pick up a piece of stainless steel rod couple mm's thick and drill a hole in the knob and make same type hook the stick thing uses.

You can also put the edge of a t towel around the shaft between the knob and the vent. That would give you a better grip than the round knob. Been using that procedure for decades.
