As robatthelake says. Go up on the roof with a small wrench. Sorry, I don't remember the size so take several or good pair of pliers. Have the fan turned on and slightly tighten the mounting nut for the plunger switch. If electrical contact at the switch is corroded the fan should start running. KEEP your finger out of the way of the fan blade.
The last time my fan acted this way, I loosened the nut and used contact cleaner to improve the connection.
