Fastline me on RV LED's

Trial & error. Cree, Bridgelux, cost me three-times as much as no-name and I returned to good old trial and error. Finally found the source for the chips I needed. Chip manufacturers do not lie about wattage. Bulb manufacturers make Pinocchio look like Mother Teresa. A true 10-watt chip looks about as bright as a 1056 bulb to my eyes. 800 milliamps. Without milliamps to guide you, you're whistling in the dark. Ask the vendor before you fork out your dough.

I note that some are using SMD as the type of LED. SMD stands for Surface Mount Diode, it describes the type of package that the individual LED uses.

A more meaningful description is the number, such as 5050, 1210, 3528 etc. 24 5050 would indicate there are 24 LEDs of the 5050 type.

The rig I got seems to burn out bulbs often. What you stated above is the obvious solution which I already did last year. That box of bulbs has burned out. LED's have a long life, but I have no desire to be a LED aficionado. Sorry I wasted your time, but your solution was the low fruit on the tree, and I figured everyone would see that and would know enough.

Buy from Ebay. They will be coming from either Hong Kong or China. That is okay because most of the ones in the US are made over there also. No need to pay the inflated prices here in the US. You will have to wait 1-2 weeks for shipping from overseas. But the cost savings will be worth it. As said earlier, buy one or two to make sure you like them. I like light and I like white light. I have replaced all of my fixtures with 48 SMD in the 5-6K temperature range. The wife and I love it. When I first started in the LED thing about four years ago, you could get a 48 SMD from China for about $1.50. I think that is hard to do today. Good thing I stocked up.

Hey a 1076 base is a 1076 base to a non LED geek who could care less about LED's. But, thanks' for that education.

Now why don't you "Fastline me" with a link to what you would use without blowing your wad to get the same results that a $1 taillight bulb gets. Other posters were kind enough to do that which I am very much appreciative.

has a great selection of replacement lights & fixtures. Brightness is the same & color is only slightly cooler than an incandescent.

Nine times out of ten when I run into somone who claims their LED bulb "is just as bright as a....." it isn't.

My methodology is simple. Fire up the emitters one at a time take a magazine with tiny print then start stepping away while reading. You get the idea...

Look for the amount of MILLIAMPS MILLIAMPS MILLIAMPS the fixture consumes. This is a BS detector for brightness. Color temperature should be near 3K for warm white.

This is why I build my own fixtures from scratch.

Looks like you purchased a bulb with 13 SMD (Light chips). If you want brighter get 21 or more.
