Firman 1500 generator issues

I bought this unit to take camping. It doesn't even have half an hour of use time when the unit sent too many volts to our travel trailer and started the trailer on fire. Luckily we all got out safely and the damage was kept to a minimum. However dealing with Firman has been frustrating. Instead of taking this complaint seriously they are questioning us on everything, as if we have never camped before and as if we have never used a generator before. I have a video of the generator voltage output fluctuating from 150-180 volts when it should only be putting out 120. I have my RV tech telling them exactly what happened and that we had no fault in it. I have provided pictures and all their requested information. But still we get no where. Super sad they aren't taking this seriously, my kids were in the trailer and things could have been really bad, and we don't want to see this happen to anyone else.
Has anyone had this happen with a Firman or any other type of Generator?

This is why we buy Honda or Yamaha generators.
  • Since no one else asked .... did you have the trailer insured? ( you certainly should have ). What does your insurance company have to say about this ... ???
  • Maybe you should ask (seriously!):

Does anyone *HAVE* (own) a Firman ??...:h

*If* you receive any responses - you might try a PM (Private Message).

Otherwise - "some" may believe the mfgr's assessment & questions!

    Good luck.

  • How long were you videotaping when the voltage was reading 150 to 180?
