Firman Generator Report

As I mentioned earlier I purchased one of the 3300/3000kw Firman Generators from Newegg.com. I have to say I was really planning on getting a Honda EU3000, but it was too tall to fit under my Snug Top Tonneau Cover. I was limited to a Powerhorse(not Powerhouse), from Northern Tool or this one. I have to say, this little guy appears to be very well put together. I'm not a big fan of buying cut rate Chinese products and I have to say the price would indicate that it could fall in that catagory. It cost $715.00 to my door. It came very well packaged and with real good instructions and manual. I put a coffee cup on the top as an indicator of the units size.

This is the top view. Nice big filtered gas fill.

This pic shows the handle to pull it around. The early verdict is that it started right up. I ran it for five hours with small loads for the break in time.........then I fired up the 13.5 A/C and it never missed a beat. It has an electric choke, electric starter, low oil shut down. The only thing I purchase to start it was the fuel. Had the battery and the oil with it. Since we have it for emergencies only it should work out fine for us. I just need to make sure I start it now and then to keep up on it's maintenance and be sure it will fire off when I need it. Has a 30a RV type plug.......
  • Thanks for the update. :C

Let us know if you ave any problems.
  • Looks pretty small for a 3000kw generator, why even have electric service to the house with this thing putting out 3 million watts haha. I'm sure you meant 3kw or 3000w, Glad to hear it is working well, looks like a Champion inverter knock-off with the same colors, wheels, and handle. If it operates anything like our Champion 3100 you will be very happy with your purchase. Picked up remote start Champion 3100 last April for the same price delivered and it runs our AC at high elevation and still on eco-mode. Already has over 100 hours and just loves to run, hardly used our onboard Onan at all last season.

What is the noise level with it?? I know that with EMERGENCY generators one can be a bit.. er... Noisier than with normal RV stuff but just out of coursity what is the noise, at say 1500 watt load (a standard space heater) with one foot touching the wheel can you still talk to someone in a normal voice or do you have to "Speak up" to be heard over the generator (how I test 'em)

Also you mentioned starting it every once in a while

Yup, monthly, 1st of every month, then plug in the 1500 watt heater I just mentioned, set it on HIGH max temp (or get one without a thermostat) and let iot run for 30 minutes or more.

Shut down, and check oil Top off gas as needed or keep spare (STABILIZED gas handy, Seafoam to stabilize.

    Yes, correct 3kw or 3000w.

Noise level is way low. Like a Honda or Yamaha. When I say emergency, I mean for me it's an emergency to use it. The generator is for everyday RV use in a park.
