Fixed rough running Honda EU2000i
3 year old generator and like a fool I left gas in it too long. Went to fire it up two days before my trip and it was running terrible on normal and would die on eco-mode.
Too late to take it in for service/repair so I watched some YouTube videos and cleaned out the carb. Overall, not a difficult job. The hardest part is a little spring that flies out when you disassemble. After cleaning it was pretty difficult to start and still ran a little rough (but much better than before). A couple ounces of Seafoam cleaner and a full tank of gas and she's purring like new.
So, don't be afraid to take a whack at it if yours starts running rough. I'm super handy with houses but haven't done anything automotive related for years. So, if you're inclined at all go for it.
