Having this on one post is very helpful. I wanted to research solar info on the forums and for this website alone there were more than 400. In spite of this seeming wealth of information I expect that each person doing an installation is going through the same steps as everyone else of deciding the best panels to use, the best controller for their application, the best wiring setup, where to locate the connectors and battery trays and other necessary items, how to mount everything and where. It seems like there should be a simpler approach possible short of taking the RV to a local shop and having them just do it.
I recently read a book on boondocking by Bill and Jan Moeller and it was extremely helpful in understanding about power budgeting and how to calculate battery storage and charging system requirements. I have dealt with electrical systems on sailboats for many years in the pre-solar age and this book was a very well written book with lots of information covering RV electrics. Half the book deals with power in depth. Highly recommended as a starting point.
