Fridge Gas to 120VAC

You did say what, just not why.

With an auto-change regulator you should not run out even for extended use.
If propane seems to go fast you may have a leak.

I assume the RV is in storage keeping the beer cold and propane is lower cost than electric.

LP on hot stack. keeps relay open, so there was no 120v to fridge
when the lp ran out, the stack would cool and the relay would close and LATCH (would need manual reset after refilling LP)
allowing 120v to fridge
fridge auto circuit would select electric

just select manual LP and don't run out

I thought I stated what I wanted to do straight forward enough, glad you were able to read as such. What you suggested is exactly what I was thinking to do. Very simple thing to do for me but just wanted to see if it has already been done before I work on re inventing the wheel. I'm in a MH and using an extend a stay with a LP outside. Like you said easier to not run out of LP. Maybe I'll get another tank and a dual set up and monitor when one tank is empty.

I agree with the others that cooling the food on electric paid for via the camping fee or metered separately is going to be cheaper than using propane. For those extremely rare instances when it isn't (for reasons I can't imagine), just put the fridge into "gas" mode.

I think OP has some 'splainin' to do.

You want to run on LP and when the LP runs out, you want to default to 120 volts???? WHY??????????????????????????????????????????????? Doug

With it in 'auto'

It swaps to propane upon loss of AC Power.......and swaps BACK to AC power when it becomes available again

So it already does what you want.





BUT NO...if GAS is selected manually it does not swap to AC when propane is 'lost'

Simply use 'Auto' Mode. Then it will swap back and forth based on 'energy' source available

Our fridge has been in 'auto' since 2006

Why? I don't know you model but on auto our DM2862 is selective either Gas only for when one might be on limited AC or auto AC/gas. When we stay at a friends with only 20 amp (it's free camping) I run WH and Fridge on gas the 20 amp keeps the batteries charged a morning coffee pot and maybe the TV and ceiling fan.
