Fridge goes out at night

I have a 2004 majestic 24 foot rv. I have had a problem with the fridge staying on. Last summer it wouldn't stay lit so I replaced the anode and cleaned everything. It worked better. We went camping last weekend and the fridge went out every night. We think it went out when the heater kicked on. It happened both nights and fired right up in the morning. The fridge had a "f" code showing.

  • I have 200 amp hours worth of batteries and they were full, so not a power issue ( and it was only happening at night and yes we were boon docking). I always purge the system of air before lighting the fridge. All the valves are open and the pressure seems fine because the fridge ran fine all day and didn't cut out when using the stove top.
  • I have a Stay-A-While adapter on my on-board propane tank. After I switch between the on-board propane tank and the external tank (and vice versa) I go inside the MH and light a burner on the cooktop to purge any air that may have been introduced when I connected the external tank to the Stay-A-While.

I found this out after listening to the water heater attempting to re-ignite repeatedly. The fix for me was to burp the gas line by lighting a cooktop burner for 20 seconds or so. Sometimes it requires me to spin the SPARK knob 15 to 20 clicks before the burner would ignite.
  • Fault Codes (N510, N62X, and N82X models)

    "F"

The burner did not ignite or re-ignite.

    Check:
    - That the valve of the propane gas tank(s) is open.
    - That the propane gas is at the correct pressure.
    - That the manual shut off valve of the refrigerator is open.
    - That there is no air in the propane gas supply line. See "Removing air from the propane gas supply lines" section of this manual.
    - See your dealer or authorized Norcold Service Center.

  • On the surface I agree with PT. If you think the frig quites when the furnance kicks on then the furnance is probly dropping voltage low enough to cause the fridge to fault out.

However, without knowing anything about your fridge it is really just a SWAG. Goggle your fridge model and see what the troubleshooting guide says for the fault code you are getting
  • Hi,

Assuming you were boondocking, it sounds to me as if the battery voltage may be dropping too low to run the fridge. How many amp-hours of battery bank do you have?
