Fridge leaking water or something

Have a 2009 Dutchman Grand Junction with 4 door fridge. Noticing at random times we are getting water in the bottom of our fridge. Have defrosted the freezer to be sure this is not causing problems. Cleaned out fridge and after 3 days we are noticing a little bit of water on bottom fridge again. Does not seem to be wet every day.. possibly every 2-3 days.. Hoping someone has an understanding as to what might be happening.
  • The hole in the insert is to limit the flow so the water has time to evaporate in the outside tray.
  • That little black plug has a small hole in it. Pull the plug out, clean the hole and then put the black plug back in.
  • Oh my goodness! Thank you all so very much! Yes, we now realize we have a tray under those metal fins. There was a chunk of iced over water in there. But more so, my husband drained the water from outside and cleaned up the dirt.

Now the part that is baffling my husband is that there is a rubber piece in the hose that, in his mind, is obstructing the flow of water to be drained. We have lived in our RV for 4 years now and in my mind, I think it belongs there and have told him to replace it. Which he agrees of course. lol
  • I sometimes get the same thing, water showing up at random times.
On mine, if I keep the door open too long, such as when putting a load of groceries away, I will get water dripping off the fins at the back and collecting where they fall below. Little bits of ice too.

Any small amount of dirt will plug the tube and the condensation will then drip inside the fridge. Just clean out the tube.

Open lower outside access vent cover
Inside there is a tube that comes from that drip pan into a drain cup next to burner area.

Condensate drains into cup...warm burner area evaporates condensation in cup

Your fridge also goes thru a 'defrost cycle' every 48-52 hrs.
Fridge shutdowns allowing temps to rise then restarts cooling cycle

If FINS in food compartment are frosty then they will drip allot of water during this cycle

  • No ice maker. Just standard 2 door fridge on the bottom and 2 door freezer on top.
  • Do you have an icemaker in the freezer? If so they tend to crack after several years on the casings which can cause water leaks.
