fridge not staying on (faulty circuit board ?)

I have a Domestic 3-way fridge that will only stay on for a few minutes whether I put it on ac, battery or propane. One of the locals said it should run on propane even if the circuit board has malfun...

If the fridge comes on without the 120v access cord plugged in, does this mean it will operate on 12v for boon docking? How would I go about testing for low voltage coming into the board?
