fridge not staying on (faulty circuit board ?)

I have a Domestic 3-way fridge that will only stay on for a few minutes whether I put it on ac, battery or propane. One of the locals said it should run on propane even if the circuit board has malfunctioned, it will light but after a few minutes it goes off as well. Any ideas
