Fridge not switching to LP

Hi all,

I recently had a problem with my fridge switching to LP, during a power outage I attempted to switch it over from AC to LP and when I did I could hear the "click" of what I assume is the pilot trying to fire on and then about 15 seconds later I get and "F" fault code on the display. I checked the access panel and the valve is on everything looks good. Just wondering if there are any other simple fixes?

Thanks all!

  • Turning on the stove is what I was shown to do after towing my TT back to the dealer needlessly.
  • That could be the problem, I have never used it on LP. I know the previous owner always ran it on AC as well.
  • Yeah, if the gas has been off at the tank for a while, you need to turn on the stovetop burner and flush out the air. Keep a lighter on it so it'll light as soon as gas arrives. Then you can try to fire the fridge on propane. As @jhlady said, if the fridge hasn't been run on gas for a while, there could be spider webs or wasp nests in the burner tube, so you may need to clean that out.

For what it is worth, there is no pilot light. There is an electric sparker that lights the gas burner. That click you hear is the sparker, and the fridges I am familiar with will try to light three times before giving up and throwing the error message. You may need to shut it off and try again a couple times before it works, if it hasn't been used for a spell.
  • Try lighting the stove to pull the gas through the lines and then re-try the refrigerator. If it hasn't run on LP for awhile that could be the problem. Could also be a blockage in the orfice.

    Hope this helps.
