Fuel pump voltage?

Dropped my fuel tank to install new fuel pump in my 97 Bounder with Ford 460 engine. Before reinstalling the tank I checked the voltage at the pump pigtail. I had 6.67 volts. Anyone out there know what the voltage should be at the pump? I thought it was low but maybe not. I figured I'd ask before reinstalling the tank. Don't really want to drop it again if there's a problem

  • Make double sure you have the fuel pump motor wire. Sounds like you may be measuring the fuel gauge sender wire.

Amen brother. try a 2nd meter just to verify meter not faulty also.
  • just a guess but on a 12v system I think you should read 12v , I,d take the ground ire off and clean it to bare metal.
