No. I put it in there just to mess with you. I'm just joking. I figured you would end up coming back here and saying hey "you guys are wrong, I took the battery out and the furnace runs on ac". As the others have also said, the furnace runs off dc/battery and burns propane.
You do have a converter. When plugged in the converter charges the battery BUT the battery can be removed and the converter still puts out dc to the furnace, lights, water heater, water pump.
Are you with us now?
I wouldn't operate without a battery but the converter will power up without it.
