In case no one has mentioned it, the furnace works off 12v DC and propane. If it is working off 120v AC, it is because the AC is going through a converter making 12v DC for the furnace.
This is not like the refrigerator and water heater which CAN, and I emphasize CAN, work off of 120v AC for the heating part. Of course, those also MUST have 12v DC for the controls, or they will not work off the 120v AC either.
