Generator and ac

By the outlets, sounds like you have a "jobsite genny." 4000 Start/Surge and 3200 Running Watts. But that is AT 240 VOLTS plugged into that one four-prong outlet . Anything plugged into a 120 outlet is limited to 2000 Start/Surge and 1600 Run. That's sketchy with a 13500 A/C.
Somebody help if I'm wrong here. Make/Model of this 4000/3200 genny would help.

I think a 3200 or 4000 watt generator should run either a 13.5K or 15K A/C unit without a problem. I've run my 13.5K using a 2400 watt generator. The occasional surge or "pulse" may be occurring when the A/C compressor kicks in.

Like said above, carb jet restriction would do that. Cheap, easy and fast way to fix it is a dose of Seafoam. Odds are slim it will work, but sometimes it does and it’s much easier than taking it apart.

That's called a lean roll. The main jet could be restricted.

Do the plugs on the generator need to be rated a certain amount?
I have 4 outlet of 120
And a 4 prong 240

Possibly or But I'm not sure what you mean by "Pulses" do you mean it surges or it runs harder when the Compressor kicks in.

YOu may need to make a minor adjustment to the generator is all.

To find out if your A/C is 13.5 or 15K 2 methods

Of the 4 units I have had 3 you remove the grill inside and LOOK UP
The 4th one the sticker is on the side of the topside unit

It should be large enough.
