I understand Progressive now sells a bonding plug adapter for the 30amp side.
That's interesting as the
EMS-HW30C Owner's Manual specifically states -
"RV wiring is different than wiring found in homes; the neutral and ground conductors are isolated in the RV, unlike in a home where they are tied at the service panel. Therefore, never connect neutral and ground together for any reason. This could result in a ground fault condition, and may result in electric shock and/or a fire hazard."When using a genset as source power I'd consider it to be the "service panel", in which case the genset's neutral and ground should NOT be bonded. Confusing. :h
Bonded or not, that still doesn't address Progressive's concern that some gensets can destroy their EMS units because they're not always generating a pure sine wave signal under all circumstances. When I tried to pin Progressive down on whether their disclaimer which refers specifically to the Yamaha EF2000iS would also apply to my Honda EU2000i they were (as you can see from the reply from PI that I posted earlier) non-committal. In other words, I'd be on my own if I decided to plug my EMS into my EU2000i. :E Bonding plug or not, I think I'll play it safe and remove my EMS from the system and bank on my EU2000i alone to safely power my trailer without EMS protection.
