If you can apply 12 volts to the starter and it doesn't engage. You have a bad starter.If you find you need a new control board. Contact Flight Systems. They can repair yours or sell you a new one. They have been around for years with people that know what they are doing. Build a better product than the OEM. You can also come over to Smokstak. Plenty of friendly guys that are willing to help.
Sam has some good points But I have seen solenoids fail in as little as a month. They do most time out live the generator. The problem with finding any tech today. Is that they are getting rare. Most are only in it for sales. With the proper service manual. You can do most repairs.
Your BGE is over twenty years old. Not many shops around that will work on something that old.
