Whether this is correct or not, I never had a problem running the items under discussion with any non inverter generator.
I also agree that a regular generator produces a true sine wave. It is not as good as the utilities power since it does not have the controls that the utilities have. The gas/diesel/propane engine speed fluctuates and is not steady enough to maintain 60Hz therefore you won't get your perfect sine wave. JMO
