I would put it on the tractor. Really, I would sell it and get a DIESEL gen for on the tractor. A cord is easy to make. You just need some rubber cord and appropriate twist-lock ends. Use a "flanged inlet" on the trailer.
If I put it on the trailer I'd put it underneath if possible.
