  • I paid the $180+ a year ago and converted my new 7500 Watt generator to run on propane. I am not an RVer, but for residential power backup fuel, in a long term area wide black out, propane will remain easy to get... gasoline not so much.

US Carb is a great outfit to deal with as far as Customer Service and I can not believe they essentially halved the selling price.

Interesting. Do those kits work? I have a portable generator that I use for emergencies at home. I would be great to run it on natural gas.

Not sure if/how that would work on my Onan 6500 in my Allegro. It would be cool to run that on propane, too.

There is a local power equipment repair place by me on Long Island. They do the conversions using these kits and they work very well.

  • I've been looking at this conversion for a couple of years. Just bought one. Thanks for the heads up.
  • I can buy l.p. for $2.20 gal
Gasoline is now $3.50 gal for 87 octane regular
But gasoline is easier to find, when traveling
And l.p. makes a lot of sense for a backup generator and fuel storage, it doesn't go bad and doesn't gum up the carb
  • Explain WHY you would want to convert a Gasoline APU to LP or natural gas???? LP costs more per gallon and USES more per gallon than Gasoline to produce the same energy. Natural Gas would mean a FIXED site to run the APU. Not convenient for a motorhome. Great for a home back up source of fuel. Doug
  • I thought there was more to the conversion than just putting a propane line to the intake of the carb. Is it really that easy? From what I could see they just ran a supply line to intake just upstream of the choke.
