I would never buy one big generator for RV use when by far the majority of my AC power needs can be met by a 2000 watt or smaller unit. Buying two small units that can be paralleled would be my choice.
Actually in my case, >95% of my power needs are met with my 1000 watt Yamaha, and on the rare occasion I need to run the air conditioner from a generator, I fire up the built in 3600 watt Generac. That doesn’t happen very often though, which is why I’ve only put about 35 hours on it in 16 years.
Unfortunately, the Yamaha 1000 can’t be paralleled so I’ll have to buy two new identical units if the Generac ever goes casters up. But I’d sooner do that than lug around a single 100-150 lb. generator big enough to cover all my power needs.
