Don't be surprised if you have to increase capacitance. Without using a scope it is trial and error.
The PS caps and large inductor induce quite a phase shift upon startup. Try the flicker test plugging the Mega into a 16-gauge drop light cord with a 50-watt bulb burning.
I am not at all familiar with Honda inverter generators. But they "shouldn't" be as snotty as a similar capacity standard generator with regard to LC response characteristics.
