My Yamaha 2800i (which I think shares the engine and most electronics with the 2400) would run my A/C but only if eco-mode was shut off. It now reliably runs it with eco-mode on. I added the Supco 6E hard start cap, and a blower circuit delay that allows the compressor to come online before the fan. I make sure the fridge is on gas. My water heater is gas only. I can also shut off the converter if necessary, which hasn't happened yet. These are cheap/easy things to try before changing generators.
I would like to add that I consulted an HVAC expert before adding the hard start cap. He said no problemo. It's also worth noting that the compressor comes online VERY quickly now and not the second or two it took before. Monitoring 120VAC also shows much less voltage drop after adding the hard start cap.
