I have a champion 3100 Inverter genny and also a PI 30A external EMS.
Am I correct in remembering reading that I should NOT use the EMS with an inverter Generator?
If your Champ has a floating neutral output as do most inverter gensets then as mentioned you'll need a G-N bonding plug, otherwise your Progressive EMS will interpret the signal as having an open ground and won't pass voltage on to the output and therefore on to the trailer. That said, there's little reason to bother using a portable EMS with your genset and although Progressive doesn't mention any other brand of genset, including your Champ, the company does warn against using any of their EMS units with a Yamaha EF2000iS inverter genset. Considering this I'd probably not bother using a portable EMS when powering from an inverter genset.
