Generator Woes, Onan nhe emerald + 6500

I decided to revive this thread because it had a little more information than my latest. Well, I found out that the genset starter gets ruined even though I only used it to start the genset one time. The start switch at the genset seems to work ok. I had thought that there was a short in the remote starter switch or wiring. I looked at the service manual but, I don't see an answer to my problem. Is there any other mechanism that could make the starter engage while driving happily down the road? I think I see where I can just disconnect the remote starter from the control board, but, I hate to buy another starter only to have that one ruined again. I am just so ignorant about complicated electrical things. Ok, not just electrical things. My new starter should be here in a day or two.
