generator

We have an Onan KY-FA/26100 generator. It starts hard, I've found that if I hold the choke closed it will start vary well. So how do I adjust the choke so I don't need to hold it closed?
It's a pain to get to the engine, to hold the choke.

Thanks,
Dusty

  • I found that the choke was set way too light. Thanks a guy on another forum that works on generators, we got it fixed. Starts now in a few seconds.

  • It's been that way sense new. Only a couple years old. I'm working at increasing the choke setting. a real pain to get to.

  • What is your current elevation?

It's normal for Onan gennys to crank for a few seconds before firing up. What do you mean by: "It starts hard."

  • Is the winter summer switch in the summer position?
    Air cleaner clean
